Five Places to Include in your Phnom Penh Itinerary

Are you planning to visit Cambodia soon? Make sure to include these places in your Phnom Penh itinerary.

1. PH Euro Park

Euro Park is one of the places worth seeing when in Phnom Penh. You can go strolling, photographing, picnicking, boating, shopping, or drinking coffee or eating at one of the coffee shops or restaurants. In addition, there is no entrance fee.

Euro Park is influenced by Europe, according to penghuothgroup.com, and the architectural style includes Georgian, Victorian, Tuscan, and Venetian influences. Here you can find replicas of Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Opera House, and many more.

The first time we visited the place was in July 2020, when some buildings were still under construction. The most recent visit was in April 2022. By this time, the park had gotten more beautiful, and there were some shops open.

The place is instagrammable. It is best to go early in the morning to enjoy strolling and taking photos. However, if you want to have a professional photo shoot in the area, you need to pay 50 USD. This is based on the experience of one of my colleagues, who had her pre-wedding photoshoot in the area.

Euro Park is located in Borey Penghout, which is around 30- 40 minutes from the city center. If you don't have a car, the most convenient way to get there is to book a tuk-tuk ride through Grab, Pass App, or Tada. It cost around 6 USD one way.

2. National Museum of Cambodia

The best place to visit if you want to know more about a country is its museum. The National Museum of Cambodia houses the largest collection of Khmer art. You should visit the National Museum of Cambodia to know more about the Kingdom of Wonder. The entrance fee is 5 USD for kids and 10 USD for adults. It is located on Street 13 and it is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3. Romdoul Village

If you enjoy nature and good food, Romdoul Village is the place you should go. We found Romdoul Village by chance. We were on vacation and looking for a place to visit when the Romdoul Village advertisement popped up on my Facebook page. We thought it was interesting, so we went to see it.

It is best to visit Romdoul Village with a personal car since it’s quite far from the city proper. You can, however, book a tuktuk ride to the location, which is roughly an hour out of the city center. Romdoul Village is located in Phum Koh Krobei, Sangkat Prek Tmey. It is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

Pros

There is no entrance fee.

You can pay by card or in cash.

Wi-Fi is available, though it doesn’t cover the whole area.

Some staff speak English, so communication is easy.

Cons

Mobile internet data may not work. My friend and I are Smart users, and there was no service reception in the area. Thankfully, they have Wi-Fi, so we could connect to pay for our food and book our tuk-tuk ride home.

The waiting time for food is quite long, but it’s worth the wait.

4. Leisure Lake

If you're looking for a place to unwind, Leisure Lake is a good place to go to. You get to choose where to sit, the makeshift table on the lake or the small hut along the lake. You can enjoy eating and conversing while enjoying the gentle breeze. It is located in Kakab Village, Pochentong and opens from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

5. Samathi Lake Resort

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, book a room at Samathi Lake Resort. There are numerous activities available at the resort. You can swim, walk, join a yoga class, get a massage, or relax in their sauna. They also host events. Visit their Facebook page for more information. Samathi is located on Street 2011, Khan Sen Sok.
